Jacques Markus is a minor character in Red Dead Revolver.
History
Background
Jacques Markus is a Canadian assassin that is responsible for killing legal claim-holders and stealing their gold (both dust and nugget). He is wanted dead or alive by the North West Mounted Police with a bounty reward of $50 in gold. He used to hunt moose until he turned to a life of crime and started working with the Ugly gang.
Events of Red Dead Revolver
Jacques Markus appears in the mission "Ugly Streetfight" where he is one of three snipers on the balconies that appear after Chicken is killed. Jacques is killed by Red Harlow during the shootout. If he is killed on the balcony of the undertaker's or the restaurant first, a small, special cutscene will play, showing his body falling either through the roof of the undertaker's or the railing of the diner's balcony.
His character model is first used in the mission "Bounty Hunter" where two snipers, sharing his character model, are perched on two hills. These two snipers are killed while the game gives you a tutorial on how to take cover, swap weapons, and zoom with your rifle. His character model is later re-used in the mission "Rogue Valley" where multiple snipers working for Bad Bessie's Gang in Rogue Valley share his character model. Interestingly enough, his character model was changed for this mission to have new textures and changed his voice actor from Smitty's VA to Udo Kang's VA.

Jacques is listed in Sheriff Bartlett's Journal on pages 118 - 119 under the Outlaws in Twelve States section. The pages are unlocked by purchasing the Hammer and Anvil.
Trivia
- He has the same voice actor and quotes as Smitty. Curiously, his edited model during the "Rogue Valley" level has Udo Kang's voice.
- In the beta version of the game, he looked quite cartoonish (with long beard, large nose, large ears, etc.) and was simply known as 'Sniper'.
- On his journal page, next to him is an image of the Halcon Rifle.
