Nothing is known of Archie's background. He apparently works as a musician and is close with a local mayor in the area, although it is never implied of what town.
Events of Red Dead Redemption
Archie can only be encountered camping in the wilderness with a friend or a few other people in New Austin. He more commonly spawns camping in Cholla Springs than other regions and will tell stories of Red Dead Revolver or current game events if the player sits down. If the player accidentally (or purposely) steals his horse, he may gave chase with a rifle, or will outright start shooting at the player.

Once, this whole area was a part of an Indian burial ground. Went on for miles, they say. Who knows how many generations of Braves we're sitting on right at this very moment. People come out here sometimes. Sometimes they don't come back alive. But that's actually because the mayor takes his enemies out here and shoots them. Nothing to do with ghosts!

The mayor offered me a ride in one of those airplane contraptions. Just some wood, string, and canvas between me and the sky. That thing was invented by two bicycle salesmen, for God's sake. I said, "No, thank you, Mr. Mayor. Not my cup of tea. If man was meant to fly, God would have given him balloons."

I'm sure everyone here knows about the buffalo and how we lost them forever. They looked just like a regular bison, except the end of their horns were split into a V shape. Turns out, these made excellent billiard breaks. The Indians had no idea. They just worshipped them. Poor animals were hunted to extinction just so some robber-barons could line their pool tables and show off.

Everyone knows about Jack Swift. He had the most lethal hands with his iron, but the most tender with the ladies. Had the world at his feet. He could have gone anywhere when they attacked Griffon'smansion, but he chose to stay and fight. He must have known it would be suicide, but he was there with Red Harlow right until the end.

Griffon was the one who really sold out Red Harlow's parents. The Mexicans roasted them alive, figuratively speaking. Red never forgot. Before he was governor of Brimstone, he was Nate Harlow's partner. Totally sold him out. Red finally took him out in the governor's mansion, but it was a big shootout first.

You hear the Dutch's gang tried to ambush an army squad? What a disaster. It was by the Pacific Railroad Camp, so they must have known how well armed it would be. The railroad's a big deal, so naturally, they had a loaded gatling gun there at the ready. Most of Dutch's gang were mowed down before they even got close. Idiots!

They finally got Bill Williamson in Mexico, you know? The rebels, I mean. He went down with Allende. Those rebels really meant business. Their armies got pretty strong, too. They hated Allende! And anyone who was nearby was just assumed to be as guilty as he was.
