| “ | This is where we part ways, friend. You have yourself a good time. | „ |
| —Jake leaving Marston to his fate at Fort Mercer |
Jake is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption.
History
Background
Little is known of Jake's background, other than that he lives in Armadillo and knows enough about the New Austin area to be a guide. From his behavior in the saloon, it can be inferred that he is a drunk and a womanizer.
At some point prior to meeting John, Jake met a man who told him about the automobiles present in Blackwater, to his surprise.[1]
Events of Red Dead Redemption
Jake is only seen in the mission "Exodus in America"; he has been hired by Marshal Leigh Johnson to serve as a local guide and to escort John Marston from Armadillo to Fort Mercer.
Shortly after arriving at the outskirts of the fort, Jake bids John farewell and departs. He is not seen again.
Character
Personality
| “ | If I'm being honest, I don't care much for those highfaulutin' big city types. Not much at all. | „ |
| —Jake |
Jake shares personality traits similar to Irish and Uncle, being a talkative drunkard. He is also a womanizer, frequently philandering with prostitutes in the saloon and encouraging such behavior. He is a trustworthy guide though and leads John to Fort Mercer without issue. He seems well accustomed to the land of New Austin and it's possible he has skills deeper than what can be seen on the surface. Like many of New Austin's residents, Jake dislikes people from the more civilized cities to the east.
Appearance
Jake is surprisingly well dressed for his hobbies of soliciting prostitutes and alcoholism, wearing a mostly grayish white outfit with black pants and a wide hat. His hair is silvery white and he has a full beard.
