History
Background
Not much is known about the giant, other than the fact that he lives in a cave just east of Fairvale Shanty in the Grizzlies East region of Ambarino, and that he is very lonely.
Events of Red Dead Redemption 2
The player can encounter the giant, who speaks to the character from behind a closed-off cave entrance that is inaccessible to the player. The player can encounter him twice in 1899 and again twice in 1907.
In the first encounter in 1899, he will explain that he is very big and very lonely, and will ask the player to be his friend.
In the second encounter in 1899, he will ask if the player missed him. He also reveals that he longs to have a wife, but that women can be so cruel.
During the first encounter in 1907, he will tell the player that he likes to remain anonymous, though he admits that it is something of a joke, as he has a sense of humor.
During the second encounter in 1907, he will tell the player not to be afraid of him. He also asks whether things are as bad out there as others say they are.
Character
Personality
Not much is known of the Giant's personality, as you are only able to speak with him a couple times, with both interactions being extremely brief. However, one can deduce that he is friendly, while also being socially inept, as he unnecessarily repeats himself.
The Giant appears to have a unique relationship with animals, as a flock of birds guide you to his destination on your first meeting; he also mentions that he's good with animals during one of the conversations you can have with him.
Appearance
Despite never being seen in-game, there are files of the giant's appearances both in 1899 and 1907. He is relatively the same in both years, with him being a tall white man, he continuously wears a thick and furry coat that appears to have been naturally made. The coat is sewed together, possibly sewing parts of a wolf or another animal, although given his nickname, he is too big to simply fit in a normal one, hence why he made his own. Under the thick coat is a poorly buttoned and striped white shirt, that also shows off his chest that reveals thick chest hairs. The giant also wears rugged, ripped, and dirty jeans without any footwear.
His hair is a mixture of dark brown and black, with his beard being relatively short compared to the rest of his body. His mustache also appears to have been shaved entirely, with the rest of his beard intact. His eyes are slightly baggy, with wrinkles covering his face. Around his eyes and nose, he appears to be blushing, presumably because of the cold air in the region he is in. His eyes are a type of brown. The giant also contains a big bald spot on the top of his head, only having thick strains of hair hanging on the back of his head, yet they appear to also be dried out.

Trivia
- An invisible NPC voicing the giant in-game can be killed by the player.
- The giant can only be encountered if the player has studied at least 30 different species of animals. The "Studied" status of an animal can be found in the “Animals” section of the Compendium.
- Cut audio files suggest the Giant was originally meant to be physically encountered by the player, rather than being obscured behind a boulder as seen in the final game.[1]
- Cut dialogue states that he had recently escaped from a circus.
- A model and textures exist in the files for the Giant with appearances for 1899 and 1907, though it lacks textures for his shirt and torso as well as lacking models for his legs and eyes.
- His cut model's likeness seems to be based on the real world Rondo Hatton, an American horror film actor who suffered from Acromegaly.
- There is another cave the Giant was originally supposed to appear at not too far away from the other cave.
