Explorer Challenges are gameplay challenges which involve finding treasures in the single-player of Red Dead Redemption 2.
The first rank is gained upon the player acquiring their very first treasure map. The 1st map of any of the following treasure hunts can unlock Rank 1 of Explorer Challenges:
- Jack Hall Gang Treasure Hunt.
- Poisonous Trail Treasure Hunt.
- Landmarks of Riches Treasure Hunt.
- Le Tresor des Morts Treasure Hunt.
- The Elemental Trail Treasure Hunt.
After the 1st rank of Explorer Challenges is unlocked, finding/acquiring first maps of any of the remaining treasure hunts won't count towards any of the subsequent Explorer Challenge ranks. The 1st map of High Stakes Treasure Hunt isn't included in the list above, since it can't be the very first treasure map the player acquires (High Stakes Treasure Hunt becomes available only after the 1st Jack Hall Gang treasure map is acquired from Maximo).
The requirement to "find a treasure" to unlock Ranks 2-10 counts both finding the final treasure at the end of a treasure hunt, or finding an intermediate map within a treasure map chain. Therefore, completing all 10 ranks generally only requires completing 3-4 map chains, so it is possible to do as Arthur. Here's a complete list of all intermediate maps and treasures that unlock Ranks 2-10 of Explorer Challenges:
- Jack Hall Gang Treasure: 2nd and 3rd Maps and the treasure (3 ranks).
- Poisonous Trail Treasure: 2nd and 3rd Maps and the treasure (3 ranks).
- Landmarks of Riches Treasure: 2nd, 3rd and 4th Maps and the treasure (4 ranks).
- High Stakes Treasure: 2nd and 3rd Maps and the treasure (3 ranks).
- Le Tresor des Morts Treasure: 2nd Clue and the treasure (2 ranks).
- The Elemental Trail Treasure: 2nd and 3rd Maps and the treasure (3 ranks).
Finding the maps or the treasures of Torn Treasure Map and Sketched Map treasure hunts does not count towards any of the 'Explorer' challenges.

Trivia
- It is possible to complete all 10 ranks of Explorer Challenges as Arthur without collecting any of the treasures, if the player finds all the maps of Jack Hall Gang, High Stakes, Poisonous Trail and Landmarks of Riches treasure hunts.
- This is arguably the easiest set of challenges to complete, as the player only needs to find a treasure map once and then find nine intermediate maps or treasures to complete it.
