Letter from a customer
"The Mitchner lowlife commenced to coming around the farm on his crowbait nag, running his flannel mouth and gettin my sons full as a tick on some bug juice he'd cooked up. Now I ain't adverse to a thimble full of gut warmer time and again but them boys is meant to be plowin a row so we have some preserves to can come October, not getting roostered on nose paint and takin French leave from their chores. I told him he best shin out, get a wiggle on fore I lather him up good and knock that hair case plum off his head. A sensible feller would hang up the fiddle and call it a day. By gum, he's gonna have that game leg to remind him of that day I pulled the Duke 1853 Navy Revolver out of my holster and knocked him plum on his backside from clear across the way. I tell you, this here revolver is fine as cream gravy. I aim to order one for my daughter and tell her to dispatch any tin horns that come a courtin."

Trivia
- The Navy Revolver is directly based on the Colt 1851 Navy Revolver, as is the Pacificador from Red Dead Revolver.
- The in-game Navy Revolver also contains features from the Remington New Army revolver (designed in 1858) with its axis pin that allows for quick cylinder removal; this trait of the Navy Revolver is shown in its Grand Theft Auto Online reload animation.
- The model used in the game is also referred to as "The Duke 1853 Navy Revolver" by a woman who wrote a letter to the company.
- The Colt Navy 1851 is notably the revolver used by the Man with No Name in the famous Spaghetti Western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Both percussion and cartridge reproductions were used interchangably in that film.
- The Colt Navy was widely used in the American Civil War. However, in the setting of Red Dead Online, it would’ve been rarely used as newer revolvers rendered it obsolete.
- Like the LeMat Revolver, another percussion revolver in the game, the Navy Revolver is rapidly reloaded with paper cartridges pre-loaded with the powder charge and projectile.
- Lowry's Revolver, a variant of the Navy Revolver, can be obtained after completing the Los Santos Slasher mystery in Grand Theft Auto Online.
- Unlike the Cattleman Revolver, whose real-life counterpart requires the hammer to be at set at the half cock position to index the cylinder while reloading, this is done with the Navy Revolver, although it is the opposite while dual-wielding.
