A Butcher is a vendor in Red Dead Redemption 2. He sells and buys meat and fish. He will also buy animal carcasses and pelts. The quality of the animal skin determines how much the Butcher will give the player for it.

Description

Butchers can be found in Valentine, Strawberry, Rhodes, Saint Denis, Blackwater and Tumbleweed. They sell animal cuts, which are used in many recipes. They will also buy the parts and carcasses the player can obtain while hunting. This can be a valuable source of income, particularly when selling low-quality parts acquired with relative ease when traveling across the map. Animal parts in perfect condition are required for various crafting purposes, so the player should be sure to exhaust all available opportunities with Pearson and the trapper before selling such items.^[1]

Notes

• Pearson can also offer his services as a Butcher at camp. This is unavailable after the epilogue.
• Crafting materials such as Feathers, Animal Fat, and Gritty Meat cannot be bought from these stalls.

Oversights

• After completing the mission "Money Lending and Other Sins IV", the Butcher's icon in Strawberry may disappear from both the mini-map and the map in the pause menu. To avoid this, the player must not stow the cougar pelt on their horse and instead walk on foot to Strawberry and sell the pelt to the butcher whilst holding it.^[2]

Trivia

• Aside from Pearson, Eldridge and Bob Mattice are the only butchers in the game to have a confirmed name.
